9/13/17- First Running Club

The Fall 2017 Running Club season is off to a great start! The runners were able to participate in sprinting, agility, and distance activities at our practice this Wednesday. Welcome to our new 3rd grade runners! We are so happy that you are here to run with us this season! Thank you to all of our amazing coaches for their hard work in organizing and running practice yesterday.

Congratulations to our 2 award winners for the Enthusiasm Award this week. Go, Lucy and Trey!


We will see you all next Wednesday for the 1 mile timed run. Make sure to stay hydrated and to bring your running shoes! :)

Way to go Brassfield Running Club!

Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to the Angels Among Us 5K this past Saturday!

Brassfield families raised an incredible $1,025 for Brain Cancer research at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke.

Running Club 4/12/17

After a break due to heavy April showers last week, our runners were back with lots of energy! We worked on endurance and strength activities today with a group 1/2 mile warm up and exercises in groups with the coaches.

Our character trait today was positivity and two runners stood out from the crowd. Miley gave out smiles and high fives to runners during the 1/2 mile warm up and cheered on her fellow runners and Lance had a contagious smile and lots of joy to share with friends today. Way to have a positive attitude, runners!

Thanks to some awesome parents, runners were treated to a cool down with a stand up misting water feature! It was a hit and we would love to use it again as the weather gets warmer.

Running Club 3/15/17- One Mile Run

We had a VERY chilly running club practice on Wednesday, and we are extremely proud of all of the runners for pushing through and completing their mile run! First Running Club 3/8/17

We had a wonderful first running club of our Spring Season yesterday! The students participated in 4 stations that highlight different important aspects of running club. Teamwork, Sprinting, Agility/Strength and Distance....but most of all- HAVING FUN!

Each week, we choose 2 students who win the Character Trait of the Week award. This weeks' winners were Jeff and Sydney who both showed a lot of ENTHUSIASM as they cheered on their teammates and participated in all of the running club activities!  

Running Club 10/12/16

The runners did an amazing job at running club yesterday afternoon. We are so thankful for beautiful fall weather so that we can get in some great running practice! The kids were split up into groups and worked on a variety of running activities. They practiced distance running, sprinting and even completed some strength activities.
 Our character trait of the week was Good Sportsmanship. Congratulations to 5th grader, Kelis and 4th grader, Luke for winning the Sportsmanship award. They are both so supportive of their teammates and love to run!  

Run for Hope 5k!

Hurricane Matthew couldn't slow down our amazing runners this weekend! Congratulations to Ella, Sola, Jack and Meghan on their 5k race this Sunday at the Run for Hope! We all met early Sunday morning after Hurricane Matthew blew through NC the day before, ready to run. All 4 runners were so positive, determined and impressive during their 5k runs! A few of our parents and coaches ran the race as well. We all had fun afterwards, enjoying live music, good food and games. Thank you to the Angus Barn for putting on such a wonderful event, and THANK YOU to all of the families who came out to the race today! We hope you had fun, and we can't wait to do another race together in the spring!
