Running Club 10/6/15

Way to go on Tuesday, running club! The students ran their 2nd timed mile of the year! We were very impressed by the positive attitudes, encouragement and hard work by all of the runners. Congratulations to our 2 winners of the Positive Attitude award this week; 4th grader Samuel and 4th grader Tyler!

Running club canceled 9/29/15

Running club will be canceled today due to rainy and muddy conditions. We will resume running club at the normal time next Tuesday, October 6th!

If you are wanting to do a workout at home on this rainy day, here are some ideas to get you started! 

A great family event and 5k run in the area...

The Run for Hope will be October 11 at the Angus Barn in Raleigh. See website for details! 

September 22, 2015

We had so much fun at running club today participating in stations! Mr. Turley led a station in Across the Ocean (our favorite game!), Mr. Flahive led a distance run through the trails, Mrs. Perrott led us in some dance moves with Go Noodle and Ms. Pakes led us in hills and strength exercises! 

Our character trait of the week was Encouragement. Congratulations to our two 5th grade students, Lotanna and Lucy, who were the winners of this award today! Thank you for being so positive and always cheering on your teammates!

September 26, 2015- St. Jude's walk/run to End Childhood Caner or you can donate to the cause here! 

September 26, 2015- The Buddy Run- this is a family even that benefits The Backpack Buddy program. 

October 11, 2015- The Run for Hope- this even benefits the research and treatment of mental illness and is run by one of our very own Brassfield families! 

Running Club 9/15/15

Great job today, runners! We had students complete the make up timed mile if they missed it last week and all of the runners showed great enthusiasm in cheering on their running club team mates! Runners were split into smaller groups today with their coaches to compete in some fun relay race activities. The character trait of the week was playing fair/following the rules. Congratulations to our winners, Caroline K. in 3rd grade (not pictured) and Johnny M. in 4th grade!

Reminders and Updates! 

- Interested in doing a 5k or a family run?  These runs are not organized by the running club, but families who are interested in doing a race together can sign up to do either of these great events in our community. The St. Jude's run/walk for childhood cancer will be September 26th. If you are unable to attend, but would like to donate to this cause, you can click here.  Another fun run to look out for in the community is The Buddy Run, and it is also being held on September 26th. The Buddy Run benefits a great program called Backpack Buddies! 

- T-Shirts have been ordered! If you were not able to get money into Mrs. Lipetzky or Ms. Harkey by September 9th, we will be ordering t-shirts again in spring! Shirts have been ordered and should be in soon! Sneak peek of our shirts...

Way to go runners! Not only did those kids (and some coaches and parents!) brave the heat today, they ran the timed mile! Our character trait of the week was effort. Congratulations to 3rd grader, Lucy and 4th grader, Griffin on winning the Effort Award for the week. Both students showed amazing effort and positive attitudes during our run and meeting today! We also had a few shout outs for students who were showing extra effort! Way to go Johnny M., Maddy C (she ran 20 seconds faster than her personal best!), Isabelle C., and Grayson M!
