An opportunity...
Message from Ms. Koester:
"September is Childhood Cancer awareness month. St. Judes is hosting their annual walk on September 26th.  In Micah's honor we have started a Brassfield team.  I thought this would be a great way for all of us to be able to come together and support his family and be able to come together as a school community.  If you are interested in joining us for the walk follow the link below: The team name is Brassfield Elementary.

Last running club of 2014-15

We will be having our last running club this Wednesday. We have enjoyed running with all of our 3-5 runners this season. We have continued to grow in our endurance, effort and speed.
Our runners at the 5k on Saturday. They all did a fantastic job on a hilly course that wasn't the most well marked course...my favorite line was a the course volunteers asked a few runners if they knew where to go and they pointed to me and said "we just follow him".. unfortunately I didn't study the course map (oops).

May 13th Running Club

This week's running club was a little toasty. Congrats to Maddy and Molly for showcasing respect to others and yourself this week.
This week we will be focused on being unselfish. Looking forwarded to seeing our runners on Wednesday.

Third running Club Meeting

We survived the rain scare and had a productive running club this week. We have increased our warm up run to about 3/4 of a mile around the school. This week's focus was "Playing Fair" congrats to Gabrielle and Anderson for exhibiting this character trait the most according to our coaches. We worked in three stations this week. The stations were running games, obstacle course (plyometrics) and Go Noodle (aerobic exercise). We reminded the students the importance of bring their water bottles.  Next week we are focusing on encouragement. Happy Running!

Week 2 of Spring '15

We had a great second running club. We were working on "effort". Taylor and Jacob were the two students that stood out to the coaches for providing effort in their warm ups, races and during all events.  We completed a .65 mile run for a warm up run with stretching following the run. The students completed a 1/4 mile timed run to create groups. Based on the students feedback it sounds like they prefer the 1/2 mile timed run.  Next week we will be working on "playing fair" with some running games and races.

First Running Club

We have completed our first running club of the spring season. Our focus for today was ENTHUSIASM! We were very excited about running today! We completed our warm up lap around the school which is about 1/2 mile.  We did stretches and completed interval work. We cooled down with some lively games of across the ocean. Congratulations to Sloane and Breckin for being our 2 students that showed the most positive enthusiasm for the running club.  Next week we will focus on EFFORT!
